Carbon Plan Engineering have a longstanding relationship with Hertfordshire County Council and Artelia, upgrading and refurbishing over 30 schools spanning the last few years. We have made many Low and Zero Carbon (LZC) strategies to help identify where carbon emissions and energy bills can be brought down with the lean, clean and green approach.
The challenges with these structures often lay in reducing regulated energy consumption in buildings not designed for 21st Century technologies or climates. From site surveys of existing services, we could create a digital model of each existing as-built school and compare individual energy saving measures and use results to compare which measures and which schools should be prioritised for improvements. We also provided TM52 overheating reports to schools labelled at particular risk, offering fabric improvement solutions sensitive to the heritage status and practical needs of each school.
